Being Involved

Community Leadership & Industry Involvement

Giving Back to the Data Community

Over the course of my career, I’ve come to appreciate that some of the most meaningful opportunities do not come from a job title or an organization. They come from the communities we choose to invest in, the people we help along the way, and the lessons we share with others.

The data community has played a significant role in my professional journey. It provided mentors when I needed guidance, friendships that have lasted decades, and opportunities that shaped both my career and my approach to leadership.

This page represents more than a list of activities, certifications, awards, or speaking engagements. It is a reflection of years spent learning, teaching, mentoring, organizing, and contributing to a profession that has given me more than I could ever repay.

My goal has always been simple:

Learn continuously.
Share generously.
Lead with humility.
Leave the community better than I found it.

Community leadership extends beyond holding a position. Sometimes it means stepping forward and offering to serve.

Why This Matters

Community involvement has never been a side project for me.

It has shaped how I lead.

It has taught me the importance of listening before speaking, serving before leading, and investing in others without expecting anything in return.

Every conference, user group meeting, article, presentation, mentoring discussion, and hallway conversation creates an opportunity to help someone move forward.

I am where I am today because countless people invested in me.

Staying involved is simply my way of paying that gift forward.

Looking Ahead

The technology landscape continues to evolve rapidly. Artificial intelligence, data governance, analytics, automation, and cloud platforms are transforming how organizations operate and compete.

While technologies will continue to change, one thing remains constant:

People matter.

The relationships we build, the communities we strengthen, and the knowledge we share will always have the greatest impact.

I remain committed to investing in the data community, mentoring future leaders, contributing to the profession, and helping others recognize the potential within themselves.

Because at the end of the day, leadership isn’t about what you accomplish yourself.

It’s about what continues because you chose to invest in others.
